To get the job done, we must team up
IMD
There are two main reasons why the IMD has decided to write this book: the former is to promote the use of MTM, the latter is to share a common purpose among all National MTM Associations in the world. The book starts from the history of MTM development guiding the reader through a fascinating journey among the most important contributors of MTM research and the best application examples.
In the second part of the book we turn the focus from the past towards the future: MTM today is not just a work measurement technique but rather an effective and complete approach to support the most recent production systems. Since the ultimate goal of a company must be the shareholder’s value creation, profitability is our yardstick: through their deep competence in improving methods, the MTM experts are prepared to use a wide range of techniques to make any kind of process lean, efficient and ergonomic.
To an important extent, if worker productivity fails to increase in approximate proportion to wages, then productivity becomes one factor causing restrictions in the whole economy. Capital, management and labor together constitute any productive enterprise; and each has a profound stake in an ongoing effort to find and institute better methods. This means that the search of excellence in organizing the work is still up to date and continuously moving towards unique and customized solutions. Within that competitive arena MTM wants to keep a leading role by continuously growing in terms of quality and quantity of services offered to industry throughout the international network of the National MTM Associations under the guide and with the support of the International MTM Directorate.
This book is one of the projects forming the new IMD development program, which has the objective to strengthen the MTM community around the world. In order to achieve that, we all know we must become a solid group and have in our tool-box the best solutions. The MTM group is formed by all the National MTM Associations, each representing all MTM applicators and instructors in the respective country. We are a huge community and our common task of serving any industry with solid and scientific approach to productivity improvement provides the reason for cooperation.
