The IMD, in the attempt to answer the requests by the many small NMTMAs of a light and simple IT solution, in year 2003 developed and launched an Excel-based software solution named IMD STD System. Despite the low cost profile, the IMD STD (Standard Time Data) system meets all the basic requirements of any organization willing to initiate the introduction of MTM. The IMD system currently supports the MTM techniques SAM and UAS and in year 2004 it is integrating also the ergonomic analysis system ERGO-SAM.

After that important improvement, the user will be able to plan a job by designing the right method, setting a fair time and assessing the ergonomic risk generated by that job. The additional information required by the ergo module is limited to the posture and force, since the frequency, which is the third variable handled by ERGO SAM, can be calculated based on the sequence of motion elements (SAM codes) listed in the MTM analysis form. The total additional cost to get an ergonomic assessment is no greater than 5% of the total cost to run a pure SAM analysis.
